Attakulla Lodge & Villas

Before Lake Jocassee  was named  "destination of a lifetime" by National Geographic, it was Jocassee Valley, home of the Attakulla Lodge.  The lodge was named after Chief Attakullakulla, father of the legendary Princess Jocassee.  The Attakulla Lodge was Jocassee Valley’s original Bed and Breakfast with many great memories of watermelon on the porch, hand churned ice cream, and fun summer days.   Those dreams were interrupted in 1973 when the Keowee-Toxaway project flooded the valley leaving the Attakulla Lodge, still intact, 300 feet beneath the surface of Lake Jocassee.   Debbie Fletcher's family owned Attakulla Lodge, and she has many, many memories there.  We are working with Debbie to recreate the nostalgia of the Attakulla, and now is your chance to be a part of living history.

The story of  Lake Jocassee was also used as the inspiration for One Foot in Eden by noted author Ron Rash.

Recently the Jocassee Gorges region was highlighted in National Geographic's "50 of the World's Last Great Places".   Lake Jocassee IS one of the most beautiful lakes in the world with 7500 acres of water, 75 miles of shoreline and the Blue Ridge Mountains as the backdrop.  Multiple waterfalls cascade into Lake Jocassee from 40,000 acres of protected State land that surround the shoreline which is 95% protected from development.  With less than 40 homes on the entire lake, Jocassee has been a very rare and costly opportunity…until now.
